Match Preview Marseille vs Tottenham Hotspur

Olympique Marseille host Tottenham Hotspur for an UEFA Champions League group stage match at Stade Orange Vélodrome on Tuesday.

Many eyes will be on how the final matchday of Group D plays out, with this the only one of the eight UEFA Champions League groups to see no team eliminated nor assured of progression going into the final round.

Knockout football has therefore arrived early for both Marseille and Tottenham, as both clubs can advance to the Round of 16 with a win at the Stade Vélodrome.

Marseille suffered a 2-1 defeat on their travels in their last group stage match against Eintracht Frankfurt. They are winless in their last four games in all competitions (W0 D1 L3) since Sept-Oct of 2021.

Tottenham are atop the group on eight points, while Marseille's six points place them fourth.

In the first group stage meeting between the sides, Tottenham won 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 7 September. Richarlison led Spurs with two goals, netting in the 76th and 81st minute.

The Visitors have been helped by Son Heung-Min and Richarlison, who have each netted twice in this Champions League campaign.

Guendouzi and Alexis Sánchez have caught the eye for Marseille in Champions League play. They are the team's joint top scorers with two goals. Guendouzi has scored the tone-setting first goal of the match once.

The hosts have scored in three straight Champions League contests this season. They haven't been shut out since their group stage loss against Eintracht Frankfurt.

In their two previous Champions League contests at home this season, Marseille have one win and one loss.
