Predicted line-up for Manchester United vs Omonia in the UEFA Europa League match

United were defeated in their opening Europa League group match against Real Sociedad, but Erik ten Hag's side bounced back to comfortably beat FC Sheriff 2-0 last month thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in Chisinau.

Ten Hag will be aware of the importance of winning the Europa League group and he is expected to play a strong side, with Ronaldo and Casemiro in contention to start the game against Omonia, who are managed by former Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

LIVE STREAMING OMONIA VS MANCHESTER UNITED

Omonia are currently fourth in the Cypriot first division and they have lost both of their Europa League matches this season. Here's how our writers think United should line up.

Samuel Luckhurst

Tom Heaton has still not made his full debut for United and there should be little harm in giving him the privilege against Omonia. Luke Shaw can have a run-out and Raphael Varane should have been rested for this game if he was fit.

Christian Eriksen could do with a breather and Casemiro and Fred have started together umpteen times for Brazil. Bruno Fernandes can continue to captain United and bringing Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo in would enliven the attack.

Tyrone Marshall

There seems little point in De Gea starting every game this season. Dubravka is back fit and in the squad so can start here, with Heaton getting a start at Old Trafford next week.

Injuries mean three of the four defenders pick themselves in Dalot, Lindelof and Martinez. At left-back Malacia struggled at the Etihad and Shaw's performances for England and his 45 minutes on Sunday are worthy of a recall.

It seems Casemiro still has work to do to convince Ten Hag, but a start here looks an obvious place to begin that and he can link up with fellow Brazilian Fred, who has also been short of minutes. Fernandes looks a certainty to start after doing pre-match media duties.

Ronaldo didn't play a minute on Sunday, but Martial needs the run out for fitness here, as does Rashford who can play on the left. Antony can be rested for Goodison Park, with Elanga coming in.

Steven Railston

Martin Dubravka was Newcastle's No.1 until this summer and he should start against Omonia, which would be his first appearance for the club. Dubraka is more than capable and he is now back at full fitness after sustaining an injury with Slovakia.

Although Casemiro has been used sparingly since his arrival from Real Madrid, he could start two matches in the next four days. The Brazilian should anchor the midfield in Cyprus and he should start against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Rashford and Sancho were awful in the Manchester derby and they should be dropped to the bench here.
