Juventus salvaged a hard-fought victory against Lecce

Juventus had to work hard to break down newly promoted Lecce on Saturday as they eventually secured a 1-0 victory.

Massimiliano Allegri's side were looking for an emphatic response to their Champions League elimination and, at times, it looked like they weren't going to get one.

It was always going to be a nail-biter, given that Juventus’ performances recently have been a representation of inconsistency.

In the first half, Juventus were lacklustre. Some of the players were awful with their creativity. Despite missing players to injuries, Massimiliano Allegri could’ve done better.

The Italian gaffer made a decisive substitute at halftime to change the spirit of the game, bringing in Nicolò Fagioli to replace Weston McKennie, one of the most counter-productive players for Juve in the first half. Fagioli notched up the opener with a curling effort, a worldie, with a right-footed curler in the 73rd minute of the match.

Lecce nearly spoiled the occasion late on as Morten Hjulmand struck the post, but in the end, Juve would hold on for an ugly victory which, despite the poor showing, you'd have to admit they deserved.
